Hello friends.

I receive many inquires about our service
from our potential customers.

One of the most frequently asked questions
would be if it was really possible for English
names to be converted into Japanese.

The answer to this question is, of course, YES.

Every name can be converted into Japanese.
In the past, I have never encountered
a situation where a name could not be
converted into Japanese.

Now you may be thinking how it is possible
for us to convert your name into Japanese.

All we do is to try to find a set of Kanji
symbols whose pronunciation is the closest to
the English pronunciation of your name.
In this sense, your name written in Japanese
is a phonetic translation of the original one
in English.

More often than not, people from foreign
countries living here in Japan choose to use
his/her own Kanji names which are phonetically
translated version of their original names.

Finding a more appropriate Kanji symbol
that seem to fit better with the pronunciation
of your name or an English word would be tricky
if you are not familiar with Japanese language.
Because each Kanji generally has a meaning or
multiple meanings.

We carefully pick Kanji symbols that have
positive/neutral meanings unless our customers
have a special instruction on this.

If you have any other question, please feel free
to ask me.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Ken Suzuki

Hello Friends,

It's a bit heartbreaking for us just to see a picture like this. Do you see what we're talking about here?

As you can see, the lady in this photo got a little Kanji tattooed on her belly. Maybe it looks fine to people who aren't so familiar with Japanese Kanji symbols. For her, it WAS supposed to be "wind" in Japanese Kanji, but in fact the the letter was placed REVERSELY by some inexperienced tattoo designer or someone who didn't pay much attention to the result. Otherwsie it is likely that she picked the Kanji symbol from one of those web sites for free to save money. How unfortunate she is...don't you think? If she had consulted an experienced Japanese symbol translator like us, she could have surely avoided this disastrous situation.
So if you are considering getting some Kanji tattooed on your skin, please do not forget to have a native speaker of Japanese check to see if the Kanji letters you are going to have are accurate as well as the placement of them. You don't want to get the mirror image of a Kanji letter for your tattoo.

I used to live in Portland, Oregon for several years, and still miss the great nature and friendly people I met there. I've just create this image for fun, remembering all the green trees there. As you can see, the US states are generally written in Katakana as they are a foreign name. What do you think about it? I hope you like it.

They are usually written in both Kanji and Hiragana.

In order for a Japanese proverb to be considered for a tattoo marterial, it should be a word or phrases that express your thoughts, ideas, or values. Please note that some of the Japanese proverbs are not idiomatic but merely a noun which doesn't seem to be suited for a tattoo design. So it would be necessary for you to pick a Japanese proverb that is close to what you wish to express yourself.

Below is a carefully selected list of some of the Japanese proverbs that can be used for a kanji tattoo.

- 明日は明日の風が吹く Tomorrow will be another day.
- 男は度胸、女は愛嬌 Men should have courage, and women charm.

Have you ever wondered if a Bible verse that is meaningful to you can be converted into Japanese?

We recognize that most of the verses from the Bible are relatively long sentences, which may keep you from using them as a tattoo design or other purposes.

On the other hand, some people seem to come up with a good idea to solve this issue. For example, a lady who has a faith in God has asked us to convert part of a Bible verse that she likes. The phrase is "The Love of God," which can be converted into three kinds of Japanese symbols. As you can see, people like her successfully picked a key phrase from a Bible verse without changing the meaning of the message of the whole verse. This lady from USA later wrote to us saying how satisfied she was with the result.

It doesn't matter what kind of religious faith you have. All we care about is how we could help people feel happy with a little thing that we offer to them.

If you are interested in having us convert your favorite quote from the Bible into Japanese, feel free to contact us. If you have already one, you can place an order using our "short phrase conversion" service.

In order to get your name converted into Japanese, have you considered using, Japanese name generators, online machine translators or some kinds of automated scripts that randomly output Kanji symbols for your name? We recommend that you avoid using the Kanji symbols that they produce if you are going to use them for your tattoo design.

We've often noticed that this type of automated scripts available online produce unwanted results, something inappropriate for a name. You don't want to be ashamed by having Kanji symbols that have a negative meaning.

Since our Japanese name translation is done by a professional translator who is a native speaker of Japanese with a solid knowledge of the Japanese Kanji system, we can guarantee that any names rendered in Kanji symbols are 100 % accurate and have a positive meaning for each Kanji symbol used. All the Kanji symbols are carefully selected by us to avoid one that a negative connotation.

If you are seriously thinking about getting a Kanji or Japanese symbol tattoo, we strongly recommend consulting with a native speaker of Japanese who has solid knowledge of the Japanese Kanji system. You want to avoid getting a wrongly-put Kanji tattooed into your skin, don't you?

As far as we know, some people attempt to find a Kanji symbol that he/she is looking for, expecting to get it on the Internet for free. It is not a wrong idea to get something for free as long as you are 100% sure that the Kanji symbol you somehow picked from someone's website is accurate. But how can you make sure that the Kanji symbol is written correctly if the owner of the website has little knowledge about the Kanji system? We've seen a lot of people having inaccurate Kanji tattoos on their arms, legs, etc. Whenever we see those people, we wish they had visited our website...

Now, let's take a look at the Kanji symbols in the image above. It is reversed. It is very easy for us to spot a wrongly-written Kanji symbol like this. Pointing out that the both characters are placed upside down may be also relatively easy, if you have some knowledge of the Kanji system.

Again, please beware of wrong Kanji symbols scattered on the Internet! Free stuff may cost you more than you'd expected.

The actual image you will get is much clearer and larger using a different type of font style that is more esthetically pleasing.

Please also note that if you are planning to get some Japanese Kanji symbols for tattoo designs, artworks, or gifts, we recommend you making sure that they are correct and esthetically pleasing. We have found that some of the similar Kanji images scattered across the Internet are often too horrible to be used for creative work.

Japanese Symbols - Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji symbols

The Japanese symbols mainly consist of three forms; Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. This is the very basic knowledge that you may want to need to know.

Prior to learning Kanji symbols, generally, children at school here start learning how to read and write Hiragana and Katakana characters which of these two forms are considered to be part of the basic knowledge of the Japanese writing system, and relatively easy for them to memorize in terms of not only their shapes but also the limited numbers of each character with compared to those of Kanji characters.

In Japan, people's names can be written in all of these Japanese symbols. In everyday life, people in Japan need to write their names in either or all of these Japanese symbols depending on what is required for a particular situation. It is also noted that names of people from foreign countries are usually written in Katakana symbols, but some of them staying in Japan as a resident for a longer period of time seem to prefer to use their names converted in Japanese Kanji symbols, which is completely acceptable. Of course, it is ok for anyone to get his/her name converted into the Japanese Kanji symbols for any reason wherever you live.

So if you would like to learn how to write your name in Japanese symbols on your own, it may be a good idea to start with Katakana or Hiragana symbols, and then Kanji symbols at last.
